Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner Review: TikTok's Favorite Toner Worth It?

3 min read

Our four-week Anua Heartleaf 77 toner review: lightweight hydration, comfortable layering and less visible cheek redness, with little change in texture or pores. The original personal rating is 4.5/5. Here are the wear notes, current ingredient information and how the liquid differs from the pads.

Anua HEARTLEAF 77% SOOTHING TONER 250ml

Key Ingredients Breakdown

Anua’s current US ingredient list includes heartleaf water, glycerin, betaine, panthenol, centella extract and several forms of hyaluronic acid. It does not list madecassoside.

Ingredient check: 24 September 2026. Formulas and packaging can vary. Check the list on your own bottle. The current Hyaluron product linked below is a separate listing; this ingredient check does not establish that it is the exact version used in the original four-week review.

The following are the reviewer’s existing personal observations within a multi-product routine. They do not isolate the toner’s effect or guarantee the same result for another person.

First Impressions

The bottle is bigger than I expected. At 250ml, you're getting a lot of product, which immediately made me feel better about the price. The packaging is simple, a clear plastic bottle with a mint-green label. Nothing luxurious, nothing offensive. It has a disc cap that dispenses product easily without overpouring. Functional design.

The toner itself is completely clear with the faintest yellow tint. The consistency is watery, this isn't a thick, viscous toner. It flows freely, more like water than anything else. The scent is where things get interesting. There's a very mild, herbal smell. It's subtle enough that I didn't notice it after the first application. If you're expecting something floral or perfume-like, you won't find it here. It smells like... plants. In a good way.

First application on my skin felt like nothing. And I mean that as a compliment. No tingling, no burning, no immediate sensation at all. Just cool, watery hydration that sank in within seconds. For someone with reactive skin, that first "nothing" feeling is actually everything.

How I Used It

I used this toner twice daily, morning and evening, as the first step after cleansing. My method evolved over the four weeks:

  • Weeks 1-2: Poured about a quarter-sized amount into my palms and pressed it into my face
  • Weeks 3-4: Switched to soaking a cotton pad for a more even application, and occasionally used it as a 5-minute mask by layering soaked pads on my cheeks

My full testing routine:

  • Double cleanse (oil cleanser + gentle foam)
  • Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner, 2-3 layers patted in
  • Lightweight serum
  • Moisturizer
  • Sunscreen (AM only)

The toner absorbed almost instantly each time. No waiting around for it to dry. No sticky residue between layers. I could layer it three times and my skin still didn't feel heavy or tacky. That's unusual, most toners get gummy after the second layer.

Results After 4 Weeks

I went into this testing period during a particularly stressful month, which usually means breakouts and redness for me. That context matters for what I'm about to say.

Redness reduction: This is where the toner genuinely delivered. By the end of week one, the baseline redness across my cheeks had noticeably calmed. I'm not talking about a dramatic before-and-after transformation, but my skin looked less angry. Less reactive. By week three, I was comfortable going out with just sunscreen some days because my skin tone looked more even.

Breakouts: A few stress pimples still appeared. They looked less red and seemed to settle faster than usual, but this observation cannot establish that the toner caused that change or treated acne.

Hydration: Good, but not exceptional. This is a hydrating toner, not a deeply moisturizing one. It provided a nice base layer of hydration that made my subsequent products absorb better. On its own, it wouldn't be enough for dry skin types.

Texture: Minimal change. I didn't notice significant improvement in skin texture or pore appearance. If those are your primary concerns, you'll need targeted treatments.

The Verdict

Rating: 4.5 / 5 stars

Will I repurchase? Already have. I'm on my second bottle. It's become a non-negotiable in my routine, the kind of product you don't appreciate until you run out and realize your skin was better when you were using it.

Who Should (and Shouldn't) Use This

Worth considering if you prefer a watery hydrating layer. Dry skin may still need a richer moisturizer. This is not an acne or rosacea treatment, and a soothing label does not guarantee that every sensitive skin will tolerate it. Stop if irritation occurs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Anua Heartleaf 77 toner exfoliating?

The liquid is positioned as a hydrating, soothing toner. The separate Heartleaf Clear Pads contain gluconolactone (PHA) and are marketed for exfoliation. They are different formulas; check your pack rather than treating the liquid and pads as interchangeable.

How do you use Anua Heartleaf 77 toner?

Anua directs use after cleansing, with fingertips or a cotton pad, gently patting onto the face. Morning and evening use is suggested by the brand; adjust to your skin’s tolerance. Multiple layers and the reviewer’s pad-mask method are optional personal habits, not required steps.

Can you use it with retinol?

Do not assume the toner prevents retinol irritation. Follow the directions for your retinol and introduce products gradually. If a combination stings or irritates, stop and simplify your routine rather than adding more layers.

How long does one bottle last?

Bottle life depends on the amount used. The original review reported about 10 weeks from a 250 ml bottle; this is an individual usage account, not a guaranteed duration.
